Rules for the 2008 Cardinal Cup

LENGTH OF MATCHES
All U08, U09 and U10 (6v6) matches will be 50 minutes.
All U11 (8v8) matches will be 50 minutes.
All U12 (11v11) matches will be 60 minutes.
All U13 and U14/15 (11v11) matches will be 70 minutes.

STANDINGS
Division leaders will be determined by:
1. Points: Win = 3 points Tie = 1 point Loss = 0 points
2. Head to head competition (if only two teams are tied)
3. Winner of the most games
4. Goal differential (maximum of + or – 4 per game)
5. Fewest goals allowed
6. Kicks from the penalty mark (FIFA rules)

Top division is the RED division. Lower division is known as WHITE.

The two division leaders in each age group will play in the championship match. All other final games will be determined after the preliminary rounds are played. The tournament committee will determine the other fourth game match-ups based on standings and previous opponents.

All preliminary round games will conclude at the end of regulation time. Final and semi-final matches that end in a tie will play two ten minute overtime periods to their completion. If the game is tied after the 20-minute overtime, penalty kicks will be used to determine the outcome of the match.

Standard FIFA laws will be followed.

Any player or coach receiving a red card or two yellow cards in a match will sit out the next match.

Teams
The first team listed in the tournament program (and website) is the home team. A maximum of 3 coaches and a State issued Director of Coaches (DOC) pass will be honored, and are permitted on the coaches’ side of the field. All coaches will remain within 20 yards of the centerline on their half of the field, on the side opposite of both team's spectators. Field marshals will communicate which side is the coaches’ side if questions arise. Spectators are not permitted behind the goals.

PROTESTS
THERE WILL BE NO PROTEST ALLOWED.

AWARDS
Individual Championship trophies and Finalist medals will be awarded to the first and second place finishers respectively in each age group division.

PLAYERS UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT
Players are required to wear numbers on the back of their jerseys. Each player is required to have a different number. In the event that the competing teams have the same or similar color jersey, the home team is required to change colors. Player’s equipment is subject to the referee’s approval. Shin guards are required and to be worn by all players.

MISCELLANEOUS
Due to any conditions or circumstances beyond the tournament’s control, the tournament committee and/or the GSE Cardinal Soccer Club will not be held responsible for any loss due to the cancellation of the whole or any part of the Cardinal Cup 2007 tournament.
